I’ve noticed more and more, that what was once unconventional or an exception is becoming the norm. This applies to so many things… but few industries can outrank the field of beauty in this regard. For instance, how many of you have done teeth whitening, laser treatments, hair extensions or skin resurfacing – often from the comfort of your own home?
Those are just the common and readily accessible items too. Let’s not forget the botox, fillers, face-lifts, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation or even chin implants that are increasingly available.
I’m not shy to admit it, I do love a little reality tv – which means I’ve seen my fair share of surgical enhancements. I always find it interesting to view the evolution people go through when they become part of a reality show. In the first season, everyone is relatively au natural… welcome Season 2 and the foreheads are firm, the lips are large and the busts are even bigger.
I believe everyone has a right to choose what they do with their body (or anything else for that matter), so I’m really not particularly for, or against it. I’ve thought about things I’d love to change about myself… but would I go through with them? It’s unlikely, for one, I’m terrified of anaesthetic and needles. Plus, I did watch a few episodes of Bridal Plasty and it looked so painful! Although, most people who’ve had something done say they are thrilled and it was worth the temporary discomfort.
Pioneering this trend are celebrity surgery lovers. Hollywood is forever chasing the fountain of youth and in a town where 30 is considered retirement age for many models or actors, people will go to extremes to ward off the dreaded wrinkle. There are those who do it in moderation… and of course there are those who do not. I must say, the more I searched images and looked closely at them – the more unreal or unusual I thought their features became. There’s something to be said for ‘less is more’ when it comes to going under the knife.

Plastic surgery freaks me out! Not only does it seem like it hurts, it just doesn’t seem appealing to me to alter my body. I would love perkier boobs after two kids, but it just ain’t happenin’ LOL :) Heather
I’ve told my husband since we meet that i’m totally afraid of aging!! Mainly because I don’t want to look old or feel old as well. So I told him I will get botox when i start seeing wrinkles on my face. I always thought that would be the furthest I would want to go. (I have never had any sort of plastic surgeries) But I would consider a breast aug. since having our 3 daughters. But once again to scared.
I don’t know why women bother with plastic surgery if they end up looking worse than they did before. Take Meg Ryan, she looks awful after she had her lips done. And honestly at the end of the day do you really feel better about yourself. Heidi Montag said she regrets having all that work done. The maintenance alone would cost you a fortune. I think that we should all just embrace our beauty and our age and stop trying to look like we’re 20.

I think a little is ok. What Heidi did was a little much and oh so not attractive.
I would totally get plastic surgery, if it isn’t too extreme. I think it is okay if you don’t go overboard.
Well I live in LA and work in Beverly Hills, which is known as the golden triangle or something of plastic surgery. Anyway – I have botox between my brows but I don’t freeze my entire forehead. I also got some Restalyne in the lines around my mouth. Both of those are very mild procedures and just make you look like you got a lot of sleep. I do NOT like lip injections (which I don’t need anyway) or when people get stuff like forehead lifts or whatever. I think Kris Jenner looks great with her neck done. I am also too chicken to go under anasthesia to get surgery. Otherwisee, I have to say that I would get my nose / chin done. I guess I am super vain, huh.
My parents actually paid for me to get a breast augmentation for my 21st birthday/college graduation. Now, it seems like a strange gift to give you daughter, especially for two huge events. However, it was one of the best things they could have done for me. I was graduating from business school and I had the face and body of a 12 year old. I had always joked about wanting boobs, but never thought I would actually get them. After getting my breasts done, I had more confidence. I looked like I belonged in a dress shirt or a suit. Essentially, my parents gave me the gift of confidence. Some people may find it sad that I needed plastic surgery to make me feel more confident, but I’m totally ok with it. :-)
I do agree with you that “less is more.” So many people in Hollywood go overboard with it and completely change themselves.

All that I know is that Lindsey Lohan has aged herself SO much with all her surgery. She looks 55. What the heck was she thinking? UGH. I agree w/you… less is more for sure.
I’m ok with looking 30 when i’m 30, 40 when I’m 40, 50 when I’m 50, etc. My hope is more in that I gain wisdom with age. I’m not so concerned with looking old when I’m old. In my mind, it’s just part of the process and it is a beautiful process, after all.
oh man, not a fan of plastic surgery at all. And I’m sure that people will strongly disagree with me. And that is okay. but oh goodness it completely freaks me out. But then again, I don’t like wearing make-up, and am constantly mistaken for a 16 year old so plastic surgery is not necessarily on my radar. But my opinions may change 10 years :)
I agree with less is more…..I just dont get it when a very young woman thinks she needs it!!!

I think that people are starting to believe that the plastic surgery versions of themselves look normal. NONE of the housewives look normal at all…
I’m just now getting wrinkles, but I don’t think they’re that bad. looking overly smooth or perfect is utterly freaky. just my thoughts.
Very good information thanks.
